There is an increasing demand for special educators across the nation. In every state, the demand for qualified exceptional educators exceeds the available supply. There is a particularly great need in all areas of exceptional education for culturally and ethnically diverse professionals.

The (M.A.) Master of Arts and the (M.Ed.) Master of Education in Exceptional Student Education programs prepare exceptional education teachers to work in programs serving Pre-K-12 students with disabilities.

Master of Arts Program The Master of Arts in Exceptional Student Education K-12/ESOL Endorsement M.A. program is for non education majors or previously certified teachers in another content area.


Master of Education Program The Master of Education in Exceptional Student Education is for students who are already certified in Exceptional Student Education through the state of Florida.


Florida Teacher Certification Exams (FTCE) Exceptional Education M.A. students will take both the Professional Education exam and the ESE K-12 exams for graduation, and a content area exam for NCLB, Highly Qualified.


Comprehensive Exams A Comprehensive Examination is required for both M.A. students and M.Ed. students and serves as the culminating experience in the program.


Financial Opportunities Many funding opportunities are available for ESE students.


Graduate Certificate ESE offers 4 graduate certificate programs to supplement an existing graduate program or to provide specialized knowledge to professionals in several areas of Exceptional Student Education. campus photo
